Ophelia Flinders is a loner, a bit odd. All the pupils at Joseph Blundell Secondary School think so but Jaime Emerson wonders if there is more to her than meets the eye and sets out to discover just exactly why she is so strange. One dreary Saturday afternoon, Jaime is invited to Ophelia’s notoriously spooky house on the edge of town and soon finds out a secret which will change both of their lives forever . . . Ophelia Flinders’ father is a sorcerer and she is his apprentice. The action is set in England and Egypt in the Summer of 1895.
On an eerie, moonlit night, an eccentric band of adventurers and travellers gather in the drawing room of Twistleton Towers, home of recently widowed Lady Twistleton-Fife. Very soon the reason for her Ladyship’s invite becomes clear when she announces she has a quest for them, and if they except and succeed, she will pay handsomely for their services.
She explains that a curse was placed on her family when her late husband Lord Oscar Twistleton removed the sarcophagus of an Egyptian Pharaoh, known as King Ambidecstrus, from its tomb, separating him from his mother, Queen Nefatutu, and consequently triggered a powerful curse that can only be lifted if the Pharaoh is reunited with his mother. Lady Twistleton-Fife proposes that the assembled company go on an expedition to Egypt to find the sarcophagus of the Queen and bring it back with them.

The action is set in an old tavern called the Stumble Inn, on board Neptune’s Kneecap and the Sneaky Mermaid ships and on the shores and in the jungle of the mysterious Earwax Island.
Polly Perkins, a young orphan girl, runs away after being given a strange map by a mysterious fortune teller. She heads straight for the port where she stows away onboard a ship called Neptune’s Kneecap and meets Captain Utterplank and his incompetent crew of pirates.
Before they can throw her overboard, Polly shows them the map and explains it will lead them to the legendary lost treasure of the infamous Captain Crabfoot. Very soon Neptune’s Kneecap has set sail in search of Earwax Island where the treasure is reportedly buried, and in hot pursuit is the all-female crew of the Sneaky Mermaid who want to lay claim to the treasure themselves.
The action is set in and around the small town of Humbleford.Samantha Strewth and her best friend, Harriet Chumley, dream of being the next Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson and fill their time solving little mysteries brought to them by their classmates or children from the neighbourhood.
With a string of successfully solved assignments behind them, the two friends are suddenly faced with their greatest challenge yet when Tufty Allsop turns up on their door step claiming that his hamster is in fact a missing geography teacher from the local secondary school, Miss Cropper.
